Passing of William Spencer Smith

I learned last night that William Spencer Smith (Spencer) of the W C U class of '69, has passed away.  (Read obituary notice here.)  Spencer was active in campus radio station W W O O -- a manager one year -- and was a lay reader at St. David's Episcopal Church, Cullowhee. He majored in education--possibly special ed. His wife Louise was also a WCU graduate--maybe a year ahead of us. Spencer was from Manteo but he and Louise were living in Brevard at the time of his passing.

Gabe Turner wins American Legion Oratorical Contest

Gabe Turner of Ellenboro, a junior at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, is the winner of the American Legion District 5 Oratorical Contest, held in Hickory on February 13th.
